The manufacture (including welding) and installation of structural work in steel up to and including Execution Class 2 (EXC 2) as defined in EN 1090-2, and, due to the high standards worked to and maintained by our Company we are now CE Accredited to Execution Class 2.

All work undertaken by Contract Welding Services is supported by our Responsible Welding Coordinator, Tony Hayre, European Welding Engineer(EWE) & Inspection Engineer, IEng, MSc Weld Eng, IncMweldI, MInstNDT, LEP. Our consumables are of the highest quality and all our Welders have been tested and certified accordingly. We are a well established company based in Wickford, Essex maintaining our steady growth through knowledge of the industry, competitive pricing, speedy, on time delivery and the use of first rate, quality staff and materials. We are specialists in pipework, tank repairs and walkways. We are involved in all types of steelwork for the civil engineering and construction trades and occasionally domestic contracts at places such as hospitals, banks, universities and office blocks. We specialise in the marine environment and have the capacity to fabricate and fix on site all types of steelwork and pipework for both large and small contracts.
We started trading in 1987, relocating to our present works; which include a 6,000sq ft workshop and an equal size secure yard, in 2006. Within our workshop we have many items of specialised equipment as well as facilities for shearing, bending, rolling, punching, drilling and cold cutting/sawing up to 600mm diameter. We also have in our yard heavy lifting facilities up to 30 tonnes and a mobile Kato crane with lifting facilities of up to 15 tonnes. We have on our staff coded welders experienced in mig, arc, horizontal and vertical welding for large steel structures, staircases, pipe welding and fabrication.

Tarmac Construction - Foulness Island.
18 month contract. New swing bridge, provision of coded welders and steel fabrication.
John Mowlem Civil Engineering - River Roding & Blackwall.
Supply and install 410mt twin channel walings.
John Mowlem Construction - Western Docks, Dover.
Supply and install mooring facilities for new 'Sea Cat', walkways and platforms.
Southend Borough Council - Southend Pier.
Strengthening of existing pier deck. Support beams over full length of pier.
French Kier Anglia - Southend Pier.
During 2009 Contract Welding Services Ltd working with BAM Nuttall Ltd utilising a design provided by Hemsley Orrell Partnership undertook to provide and install the Platform Structure and Canopy Support for the South Station of Southend Pier.
To facilitate the Platform Construction Structural Support infrastructure was required.
This required the manufacture and installation of:
· Steel Splice Clamps,
· Ledger Support Brackets,
· Angle, “U” and “T” Brackets.
All these brackets were manufactured and installed by Contract Welding services
Other work on the Pier was:
Completely replace sun deck destroyed by fire. Fabrication and erection of approximately 150 tonnes of steelwork to replicate the existing structure which was original manufactured in 1888 and involved the forming of solid riveted joints using an estimated 27,000 hot rivets.
John Mowlem Construction - Cell sites.
Supply and install cabin support grillage and antenna poles for Mercury Telecommunications base stations approximately 175 sites in and around the London area. Between 2 and 5 tonne per site.
Edmund Nuttall Ltd - River Trent, Gainsborough
Supply and install 90 tonnes of braces to support cofferdams.
